If you have a 2001+, use 29F800BB (with the exception of the TT) If you have a 1999-2000, (with the exception of 2000 S4 and A6) use 29F400BB

I believe narrowband use 400 BB, and wideband 800BB.

Don't worry about the BT layout, it's never used from the factory. As for the 29F800 without a suffix, that will work just fine, consider it to be generic. If in doubt as to what to use, open the ecu. The flash will say which layout it uses!

My ride is a 2003 Mk1 TT 225 I am able to connect and open the ECU using Vag Com. When I try to do a full read I get a fail using any/all of the memory layout files, 400BB, 800BB don't work. Here is the full ECU Info: 0x94: Hardware No. 0261207774 Software No. 1037367515
0x91 Manuf. ECU Hardware no.: 0x98, 0xFF
0x9B Calibration Date: 8N0906018BB, 0005, 0x00001E1E, 0x00000000, 0x0A45, 1.8L R4/5VT, G01
Is the proper memory layout file 0906018BB? This looks similar to the names of the available files. Is there a member who has/can share the proper layout file with me? Sorry if this is not an appropriate forum for this question. If so please direct me to the best forum.

One other detail about my TT Ecu full read failure: I am currently running Revo Stage 3 Tuning. I have seen where there are programs that can add some code to the bin file that prevents uploading existing file from ecu. Could that be what Revo does and that is why I can't do a full read?

Usually Revo block writes, not reads, I'm sure. Why you'd want to read Revo stuff though, I don't know. Either run it, or don't. Don't go tweaking it, it's encrypted, everything's moved around.
If you can pull the file and edit it with encryption, you don't need the Revo file in the first place.

Thanks for the response, I am not surprised that the Revo tune is encripted and read-protected. I don't want to edit the Revo tune, just archive it. I have the stock tuning file and will work with that but I wanted to do my flashing in the car and be able to reload the existing file as needed. I'll just find a stock ECU and work with that, I was just hoping not to have to swap ECUs back and forth, its not that easy to get to. The Revo tune is OK but I am running a stroker bottom end so I am displacing 2.0 L not 1.8 L and running a GT2871R turbo not a K04 and the Revo tune is not getting all there is to get. Revo tune plus manual boost control yields dyno result of 260 ft/lb@ 3800 and 252 whp @ 5100, I think it should be capable of +300 whp. The never ending quest for MORE POWER! Now to find that stock ECU...

You can read the flash via boot mode. Save off the flash and eeprom and write back in bootmode if you want to restore your ecu.
