Could that be why galletto wont write to it then as the eprom is blank?

Thought so was just checking, PSOP44 adapter £10 just need to chose a programmer

Galletto will write a blank chip, no problem. I solder them on blank and then bootflash all the time. Programming it BEFORE soldering will allow you to rule that out.

Yes with Boot you can write blanked chips. I think he wants to write it in normal mode ,that is not possible

I also use GQ4X . One piece of advice though ,always CHECK ID (you will see it in the software) the Chip sometimes they show something else .Remove it from PSOP adapter ,put it again and recheck before writing

Hmmm i dont want to be spending out on kit i dont need, if you have put them on blank and galletto with ecu in boot will flash a file on then that puts me back to the ecu having a fault??

Galletto says start writing...

Then 10-15 sec later changes to Start writing...writing error

The chip is solder on correctly and has continuity everywere from the eprom pins to all corrisponding pins/points on the ecu

What else could cause this?

Normal=any mode that isn't bootmode. You must bootmode a blank eprom before you can flash using the OBD protocol.

The ecu is in bootmode when trying to flash a file

Ground pin 24 on the eprom beofre turning on the power
