I'm having trouble connecting using VAG Tacho 5.
My ECU is IMMO off, could this be the problem?
When selecting the RB4 profile in VAG Tacho it doesn't connect.  If I select 'Connect any' then it will connect but there are no useful functions available.  Can't read EEPROM whatever I try.
I will post screens of specific error later tonight but I had read around that IMMO off could cause an issue so I was hoping someone here may have had experience with this already.

Thanks

genuine or clone?
if genuine, email the maker of the tool and he will help.
if clone, throw it in the garbage before you break something and are screwed.

Yup clone, don't really have much choice in the matter as I can't afford a $950 tool.

Scanned a friend's 2004 Audi 3.0 that also had an RB4 and wasn't able to read or connect properly.  His ECU is stock as far as we both know so I think I can safely conclude the clone tool is shite.  So I might spring for a VAG Dash clone or try to exchange this tool for another of the same :/ we'll see...

buy a clone, find out it sucks, junk it and get another clone? sounds like a plan!
btw, i have genuine, and it is not anywhere near $950.

Where'd you get it?

http://www.opelinfo.com/ has it for ~$515 US but their distributor
http://www.aetools.us/vagusb.html sells it for $950

If it were $200 to $300 dollars I think I would save a bit and do it.  Maybe it'll show up used in the classifieds but until then a $36 dollar clone that might or might not work is worth the savings especially considering I may only use it once.
