Not without knowing if it has a 512k or 1M flash.

Ok, well opened it shoud be readible, what chip it is. Otherwise, If it is 1mb chip, bootmode, flash in M org file, and recode the cluster.
That should do it?

Unfortunately you have no chances to play any other S4 software (even 512K size) on this ecu.
This ecu has MCU with incompatible software insidе. MCU internal ROM is a part of whole executive programm of ecu.

Ok, good too know. I will just suggest him to buy a proper one.
Do you know why this one has been used on S4-s?

It was first ECU version for S4 AGB engine used up to May 1998.

Is it why it's not possible to use vcds through obd, or is it just the locked tune?

What do you mean? VCDS is diagnose tool.
There isn't limitations to use any diagnose toools with this ECU for diagnose over OBD.

Well, that is the problem with the car.
It goes into limp mode, and it is not readible by OBD.
I am thinking it is some kind of tune that is not alowing it or it is the ECU.
Hense, wanting to bootflash it with Another file and see if it works in thatcase.
What do you Think?

Here is original dump for this ecu.
Write it in boot mode and test on the car.

One more important thing. You can use in this ecu ONLY ONE dump (posted above)
ANY dump from other S4 ecus will be not suitable.
Your ecu use as main RTOS kernel
ERCOS V2.04 (c)ETAS Oct 15 1996
and all other ecus use
ERCSU V1.1.6 SAB_C16x (c)ETAS Jul 24 1997

Great stuff, thanx mate. Will be fun If it solves the problem.
Personally, I would just buy another ecu.
