I have done some research on the subject and this webpage seems to sum things up for our cars pretty well. I have been working on something like FIS-Control for a bit now, although the project won't stop at simple hacking the FIS display.

Think this is a repost, but interested in what you're planning. have you seen the arduino based fis control where the dude wrote 'Eduardo' to his fis display?

I was looking at building one of the kwp1281 libs for Linux/android, but bit busy to spend a week hacking code atm  Angry
