Car was running great until i had new timing belt kit fitted. May just be coincedence , but here is the story. I have torque running and noticed car felt less responsive and heavier on fuel so did log. on previous logs timing pull was no more than 6 after 5800 rpm and maf reading was approx 205g/s at 6100 rpm. My trims were normally -0.8 and -3.9 . Now trims are are both at zero (havent reset them) . Now its pulling up to 9 degrees timing from 5.5k and the corrected load seems to be being pulled too . Now peak airflow is about 191g/s . Have done leak test and no leaks . My two ideas on cause would be a failing maf (a brand new oem one fitted about 16 months ago) or the timing is out after belt change. I have attached the log i took after belt change. Any pointers would be a great help. Thanks . Oh boost requested is 1.2 bar on map. No fault codes. I also put stock map on and trims are the same after two days or running (they would normally be 0.8 and -3.1).

Check it, post results. It's camshaft/crankshaft correlation.

ok i see what block 093 is for . Ok i will check it and post up results. Thanks
Could it be a lazy or old pre cat lambda ? There is a lambda test or age block i think.

can you explain how its may affect on timing? i have -7 KW in 93. should i bother about this? timing chain was replaced a week ago (with faulty ex hydrolifts), timing belt marks on crank and cam seems ok.. no changes. vvt unit was changed a year ago with the timing belt

as far as i know its how far your cam and crankshaft are out in degrees between each other. The max tolerence from autodata is +/- 4 ok can rule out both lambda as they passed vcds tests along with cat

Do You know if whoever did the belt job used the correct tools? Half a tooth off will produce the results You are seeing.

Did I miss something ?? what engine is it ?? 1.8t,2.7t, ? The belt was incorrectly done..... . on a 2.7T You need both banks ( left & right ) corralation readings as the crank sensor adaption reading. On a 1.8T 7kw is way too much for a tuned engine ... Just have the belt redone. The belt is off by one tooth.. Lee

One tooth is usually closer to 20 in my experience.

There are 52 teeth on the cam gear..... follow me on this one 360 deg/52 teeth=6.92 degrees between teeth. The computer reads that as 7 deg. Being a mechanic for 20+ years ... I know this stuff like the back of my hand. I have seen this countless times in my shop. I hope this helps you. Lee

Lee Your math is good There was some discussion about that reading not being degrees however.

I have carried out all lambda test/cat test and all pass ok . Took another log to check injector time and max is 18ms so its not a weak pump or filter . My bet is MAF as the log recorded max of 180gs . Boost matched requested at 1.2 bar .
MINE IS A 1.8T BAM . So the reading mine gets is acceptable at -2 ? [/quote]
