I'm not sure about non european models, but my AEB 96 had this ECU. My friends has 2 ADR engines also both with this ECU.

OK, it is the euro models that I'm interested to know about.
So early a4 with AEB has those 5 plug style ECU's. When do they change to the 2 plug style ECU's? (And still be AEB engine)
