Cluster swap
« on: January 15, 2015, 06:52:23 AM »
Hi everyone,
I just found this forum and have been doing a lot of reading, and I want to make sure I have things right. I have a B6 A4 3.0 with 8E0920950L Bosch RB4 cluster, and I would like to swap in 8E0920981C from a 04 B6 S4. What I would need to do is find the SKC of the 950L and 981C cluster, virginize the S4 cluster and then adapt the S4 cluster to my car?
Are there any issues to consider if I have an early VIN A4 with the IMMO icon on the cluster instead of TPMS?

I'd bet you have a crypto cluster. I wouldn't use any cheap clone tools or you will probably have issues. Your old cluster pin can be read from the ecm (they are the same). The new one will need to be read with a good tool. Avdi works, I know some others claim to as well.

Vag eeprom programmer 1.19 is foolproof. Use that.

Remember, before you do ANYTHING, make FULL encrypted, and decrypted backups.
