here is the situation i have here, i have a 2003 audi a4 3.0l  that came in with a bad cluster 8E0920950P could not talk to it at all, would not power on.

i purchase a used cluster with the same part number 8E0920950PX.  i was under the assumption the original cluster was an RB4 no way to tell for sure.
but the new one i received is RB8 and i seem to have screwed it up somehow. i cannot get it to adapt to the key/ecu.  i managed to reset the mileage to 0 and virginize the cluster but the vin shows up wrong in vag com and no matter what i do it still shows "safe" on the cluster

i dumped the following file with vag commander not sure if it right or not or i ruined it. but this is what i have.

also not sure if the RB8 is correct for this year , if its not can the RB4 dump be put into the RB8 cluster?

No, you cannot just flash a different dump to an RBx crypto cluster.

You can't do that either. The file you use must match the processor Sad

Have to use your dump. Rule of thumb, always save the original file both encrypted, and decrypted before playing with it. That way you can always recover.

well after "persuading" the old cluster i finally got it to boot up. and pulled this attached dump. it turns out to be RB8 anyway.

so to clarify i cannot just flash this original dump to my new cluster with same part number due to being match to the processor?

sorry for being a noob with clusters, just never messed with any crypto audi stuff just older VW's...

can i patch the immobilizer info from the original cluster dump onto the new one ?  or am i just trying to make things harder.

what tool are you using for adapting?

youre best bet for cryptos is a genuine up-to-date tool. they are moody.
