Hi,
New to this forum and ecus and trying to learn as fast as I can. Got a problem at the moment with reading my ECU through nefmoto software. I can connect to the ECU but am getting decoding not licensed on the DTCs which I think is causing my problem. I have used argdubs software to disable the immo I think correctly by modifying the 95040 0x12 & 0x22 and correcting the checksum by reducing it by 1 on each line. Is there anything else I need to do to enable the ecu to be read on the bench without the clocks attached or furthermore do the clocks need to be somehow deleted from the immo bin? I've done an awful lot of searching and reading and seemed to have got to a point where i'm in need of a shove in the right direction as i'm going round in circles!
Thanks for any help in advance.
Cheers Bob

Which ECU?
Also copy paste the output of the nefmoto flasher.
Note that nefmoto's bootmode support is incomplete.

Its a 06A906032HN.
Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode. Disconnected Connecting... Starting slow init connection. Connecting to address 0x01. Slow init succeeded. Switching to KWP1281 session. KWP1281 connect info: °6A906032HN 1.8L R4/5VT 06 0001 Connecting to address 0x01. Slow init succeeded. Switching to KWP2000 session. Sending start communication request. Connected Disabling Windows sleep mode. Reading ECU flash memory. ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met. Negotiating communication timings. Successfully changed to new communication timings. Requesting security access. ECU reports that security access is not supported. Starting diagnostic session. Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message. Disconnected Reading ECU flash memory failed. 100% complete. Restoring Windows sleep mode.
Also attached are the 95040.bin original and one I created for the immo delete.
I maybe getting my wires a little crossed here so apologies if i'm saying nonsense, but do I need bootmode just to read the flash, I just want to benchread the ECU to have a play about with it before I go and screw one up on a car! It's quite a steep learning curve to get started!
Cheers Bob

No, you're on the right track.
You don't need bootmode for reading/writing the flash or reading the eeprom.
You only need bootmode for writing the eeprom.
You can try a lower baudrate...

Tried at all available baud rates at the result is exactly the same output.
Learnt something else along the way through reading with log files so i've attached the full log here if it makes any difference.

Is the ECU stock?
Also, you can try bootmode read with Galletto...
