Hey so I've been trolling on this website for awhile and learned enough to do a rudimentary tune on my 02 A6 with a 2.7t. Last revision was awesome to the point of an AWD drift on somewhat wet pavement and an accelerated heart rate. My smile was soon replaced with lots of wrenching as the clutch was no more after a couple more launches on boost... Long story short I replaced the clutch with a stage 3 from ECS and while I was at it I replaced the turbos to KO4's. I've got a P6133 code after putting it together and based on the manual it would appear that my ECU isint sending voltage to the sensor. Anyone know about this>? Also I'm looking for some info regarding the safety of the KO4 using a ko3 tune

K04 using a K03 tune: NOT a good idea.
Start with running wastegate pressure on your turbos until you sort your turbo dynamics and limit the wastegate duty cycle to acceptable levels before you accidentally cause any damage.

There is nothing wrong with running k04s on a k03 tune *if* the wastegates are set up correctly.

Thanks for the advice. The car was up and running for a day or two and I was spiking at 17lbs. And tapering to 14. The throw out bearing was the wrong one ( some tuning company didn't include it and when questioned I was told it was the same part number and to pick one up locally...) I didn't get a Chan email to log it but I'd assume I'm a little lean and my timing is getting retarded as well? I'll get it back together this week and post some logs so I can get a little advice. Thanks again

Well, the least you can do until you manage to log your car is loosen your wastegates to avoid excessive boost or sudden boost spikes, as nyet suggests.
Until your fueling and ignition and boost control system is calibrated for the new turbos, it is not a good idea to just let it run like this.

The worst thing I can think of is to loosen the wastegates at this point! Why would I do that after setting them to spec? Seems like a good way to basically render the car untunable... I've done some logging and haven't gotten much timing retard at all. ( 6 - 8 degrees max on any cylinder ) No overboost errors, no negative deviation codes (Quite sure that's because of the tune) I'm getting ready to do the fueling and will post logs after I get the car on the highway somewhere its possible to run 3rd to redline

Thanks for the info. I was under the impression that as long as I was in the single I would be ok. As I tuned along with the stage 1 I heard that a time or two. Again thanks I'm going to back my max load down a bit and from there I'll log again. Anything else to ease off to keep it safe?

Almost a thread hi-jack, but what do you guys consider an acceptable CF limit?

I tend to aim for 2-4 in a 4th gear WOT run, I figure if it gets hotter during the logging then it's a bit safer during real world driving as it gets even hotter then if you're going up into 5th or even 6th gear.

If I do a quick run in 3rd I don't tend to get any CF, sound acceptable/correct ballpark?

We argue about this all the time.

My goal is to have some correction on a couple cylinders. If you have 0 on 2 cylinders, and 1.5 and 3 on others, I call that good. Backing it down until they all have 0, IMHO, is leaving power on the table. The goal here is to ensure that IF you get knock, it's one or two events and quickly subsides. You need to avoid continuous knocking as that's when hysteresis gets you. You also want to clear adaptation channels  regularly during logging.

Thanks Ddillenger, that's exactly what I've been aiming for. I usually get as you say, 1/2 cylinders with a couple of corrections which subside almost immediately.
