Hello,

I have built full S8 spec engine for my D2 A8 (310hp version with 40v). I also have the S8 original file. The S8 file is 1024kb, but my current ecu has 512kb file. As i have checked the S8 file, it seems as the second part is anyway empty (FF). What would be the smartest thing to do?

1) Buy S8 ecu and swap the immo eeprom, not sure what ABS/ESP & gearbox ecus think about this?

2)Somehow split the file to 512kb and then flash to my original ecu, would it work? Beside flashmemory size ecus have same hardware?

3)Start some custom mapping to my current 228kw file.

Last one i would like to avoid, because i just want stock S8 360hp power from my new engine, and orig file is orig. file...

Have you checked to see if the wiring is the same between the 512kb and 1024kb ECUs?

IIRC the older ECU will run the 512k file if truncated.

It would be better to test in bootmode on a bench though if it boots up or not.

Wiring is same in most part, there are only small differences, a8 ecu is controlling 3-stage intake with 2 vacum solenoids while S8 ecu is controlling 2-stage intake with 1 vac solenoid. This i planned to use one to control both vac valves, just like S8.

Flash it in boot, verify with VCDS on bench. If it boots most likely it works.
I don't think the ECU hardware is different between the S8 and A8.
