Could be. I found out that this was taken from golf mk3 which was developed by vw motorsports for racing purpose. this engine is suppose to have 250 bhp.
The ECU looks like a standard EDC15 from the outside.

Could you read the file please and post it?

I am curious about the checksum bypass on EC15.

I've tried to read it with galletto v54 over k-line but it stops after 28%. I guess it is protected. Any ideas on how I might read it?

Bootmode means I have to open the ecu and the owner is a bit concerned that something might go wrong. So unfortunately this is not the option.

I doubt it's protected, probably you have crappy galletto 2 clone with bad K-line drivers and resistors.

Here is some more details of the ECU:
Bosch EDC15V-5.36
0 281 001 733

I've opened the ecu and found out two B58399 eprom chips. (equivalent 29f010). Probably hi/lo configuration. This is why I've had no success with galletto.

I ordered an eprom programmer so as soon as I get it I'll read the chips.

Here are some photos of the ecu:

Galletto is a decent clone. I've tried k-line on me7.3.1 and it works good. Tested with multiple reads/writes and no problem.

Looking at that board I you'll struggle to read over obd, as you said... Read with eprom reader
