My nephew just got a mk4 gti, and I wanna give him a lil more boost. I couldn't get nef software to recognize my generic cable, so I used my mpps clone to read, which went fine.
Since theres no definition for this version I'm gonna need to define it myself, or use a diff version, but I have no idea how to make sure that works.
 after that I need to flash it back, now I read somewhere that this ECU doesn't like modified files for some reason. Anyone have a lil more info?
Also if I can't get my cable to work with nef, would mpps be safe to use? I'd like to avoid removing the ECU, just for convenience sake, but if that's the only way, I will.
I don't have a bench harness or anything so that could take time if I need that.
Last thing, can mpps do a full read in bootmode? I heard I might need the eprom for recovery sake.

OK, so I need to change that string before I reflash? or is there another bin I should use as a base? if so would that mean I need to read the EPROM?
