swap med9 > older chassis.
« on: May 27, 2015, 08:52:17 AM »
what is needed to be removed/disabled when swapping med9 to an older chassis car with no canbus?
local guy had an fsi 2.0t swapped and the engine would never start even with immo off. somebody mentioned that canbus or other parts of the system were needed to be removed.
does anyone have any info on this? willing to pay for a solution.

just a little side note:
i know one guy running mk6 R engine in mk2 chassis with ecu + fuel pump computer only. nothing more necessary.
no can gateway and so on...
only error in ecu is missing speed signal
i can remember a uk based shop offering complete ecu modification for engine swaps but i cant find the link

It was QPENG that did it. Immo off is all you need to start the car. You can pour through the error classes and kill them as and when faults pop up.

Definitely nothing needed, I've done a few mk2 golfs with mk5 GTI or mk6R swaps and they all run absolutely fine. missing vfzg can trigger funny issues, but nothing that can't be solved with a little bit of brain involvement

Immo off is all we needed to get it running on an engine dyno.
