kw1281 vs Can in Audi b7

this has been bugging me for a while now.
when looking around on web, many say B7 and up do have CAN... but many pdf's list KWxxxx
so, what exactly is correct with b7 2007?
what I have I mind is that I'm playing around here with MCP chips and I'd like to get out some (as much as possible) data, but I also have in mind to maybe get something for writing data as well,like reprogramming in vcds.
I know the MCP's are can, but is that ONLY for reading valuesnlike speed, rpm and such or are there more fun to do?
I gueß the reprogramming goes over kw1281, which chips support that (preferably modules for USB / UART.
grateful for any guidance / links with facts

KWP protocols are protocols on top of CANbus.
So if you use an MCP chip you can do low level canbus communications : send/receive 8 bytes
What those 8 bytes mean is depending on the protocol you are using like KWP2000 or UDS or whatever.

and as I've understood, KW initiation baud is like 5(ish?)
does the communication stay on that baud or does need to be increased after init ?

I guess you're now refering to K-Line instead of CAN
