Vehicle Information
Car - 2001 VW Jetta 1.8t Chassis Code AWD
ECU - 06A906032CM V0005
Transmission - Automatic 01M
Mods - NONE

Software I Have Attained
All NefMoto software available.
Winols
TunerPro
Almost every Damos file Imaginable - Including one specific to my ecu - 06A906032CM.
Damos - In German, and I've tried translating some of it but its still in progress as my son is having surgery and this is being posted on a hospital PC while he is resting.
06A906032CM Bin

Related ECU Software
These were for comparison!
06A906032CL Bin
06A906032CL XDF

Goal
Understanding!
I genuinely want to learn not have it done for me.

Ignore the following as the EGR is Non Existent on this vehicle! Principal still applies just with a different map now!  Tongue
Id like to start with say an EGR map and delete it all together in software. this way ill get an idea of how things are done and be able to find other interesting things along the way!

Questions As I Go Along

Original Questions
From my understanding there are only two versions for my car.
06A906032CM - For Automatic Trans.
06A906032CL - For manual Trans.

1. So with this info I am struggling to understand if any other versions are cross compatible or not?

2. Should I get a related cross compatible "well defined" auto trans bin if this is even possible, flash it, then tune from there or should I continue on with searching for maps with the current ecu software?

File Update 2 Questions

06A906032CM.xdf was made from 06A906032CL.xdf by comparing the bins and changing offsets in TunerPro.

I didn't see the EGR map listed at least not as EGR! Im assuming it isn't even there as the original creator probably wasn't concerned about it. <- Because there isn't one..
Also some of the maps have one value that just looks off is that normal?
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could take a look and tell me weather or not I am on the right track!

File Updates As I Go Along

**Update 1** Included is the Winols Damos and Original Bin files i have found.

**Update 2** Included is the Winols Damos, Original Bin files i have found, 06A906032CL.xdf i found here on NefMoto and 06A906032CM.xdf was made from 06A906032CL.xdf by comparing the bins and changing offsets in TunerPro.

**Update 3** Attached Updated xdf  for 06A906032CM with a few new maps.. Still more to do but all in due time!

**Update 4** Attached Updated 06A906032CM.xdf with LDRXN in PSI and LAMFA in AFR

Ideally you want to start with your original file. If you have something fully defined that's close (the same engine code, and file size for example) you can use that to define your original file.

Thanks for your QUICK reply!

Its funny you said that as i had just come across this,
http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=6594.msg60912#msg60912

I am using original bin files from here and various locations while I wait on my new cable to pull MY bin. The one i currently have is CH340 based not FT232R/RL. The damos and the hex files for reference or attempted reference, and the 6A906032CL again for attempted reference.

Question
06A906032CM - For Automatic Trans.
06A906032CL - For manual Trans.

These are the only two even remotely close but the transmission is different. In your opinion would these two be a good start as far as using it for a comparative basis?

I don't believe your engine has EGR.

haha i figured that about the time i got the car and starfted reading and found hardly anything for this ecu.. Im not actually doing anything yet just trying to learn and i learn by doing.. I had thought that if i didn't get anywhere that when i get to the point where im comfortable with what im doing ill get another jetta and mess with it before i mess with my dd. There are a few crappy ones around the $400-$700 range for the whole car and i want to do a manual swap anyhow so its just cheaper to get the whole damn car, convert mine to manual, the other to auto, swap some pieces i need for the interior and sell that piece.

well, daz meant more along the lines of converting the awd code to a wideband o2 sensor.
you only need the sensor, ecu, and conversion harness. or fix up your own harness. either way, its a very simple conversion.
