Im looking into getting a dedicated laptop so i can start playing aroung with logs and all these programs that are being discussed on this forum. How much extra hard drive space is needed for all this? Im sure you need quite a bit for logging etc... Would 45MB be enough? Also you need excel to open and edit the log files correct? Ive been reading alot the past couple weeks but I feel like I will understand better once i actually start downloading and using the programs.

Any laptop made after 2010 will do. 45Mb isn't anything nowadays, standard hard drive in a new laptop is usually 500Gb.

If all you have free is 45M you have bigger issues than not being able to run the stuff you need from here.

I'm running all the software I need on a shitty little Zoostorm.  It barely runs XP, won't stream video on YouTube.  I'm gonna have to buy a new one, but it's fine for flashing and logging.

A solid i3 laptop would be fine, with 500+gb of storage.  As said, 45Mb is nothing these days.  Are you sure you got that right?

I run a thinkpad X60 I got off ebay for $50, with a 64gb SSD. Pretty much indestructible unless I run it over and easily powerful enough for nef and all the diags I can throw at it.

Issues? Its an old Lenova think pad, it only has a 80 GB hard drive but with Vista, Microsoft office, Java, etc. It has 45GB left in it without these programs... I figured it would be great for logging. And its only $60. Should I not buy it then?
