B5 RS4 Cluster in B5 S4 Back-lighting issue (always on, ign on or off)
« on: October 15, 2015, 09:59:03 AM »
Hello All,
I just purchased a B5 RS4 Cluster and am having this issue with it
On vagcom the PN shows as: 8D0 920 981
Its the 200mph version. Asside from the needles being off until headlights are on, the backlight is the only nuance with it.
I have it coded as follows via vag com
So I got this RS4 cluster, and the back lighting never turns off...
its coded to m box (adaptation 60 1025) then 02 (seat belt) 6 (usa)(also tried 4, for Britain) 6 (cylinder) 4 (turbo)
Am I dumb? or is something up? am I missing something?
further coding needed? wiring change?

The RS4 backlighting should not be on unless the headlights are on.
Check for bent pins.

Try to check coding in adaption options canal 19. The A6 ( and maybe the later B5´s ) can code some light features there in the first bit.

If the lights fail to turn off with the ignition off, it is not a coding issue.
