Hello all.

Just a quick question - plan on flashing for the first time, from within the car.

Just in case things mess up completely I want to take a read of my EEPROM first.

I want to avoid bootmode if I can, despite having an adequate bench setup, because I have an Infineon processor and it isn't particularly easy or quick. I'd rather not do it unless I have to.

Can I read the EEPROM (not write!), without bootmode, using Argdub's tool?

Thanks for your help.

Yes.

Short, sweet, and just the answer I was hoping for.

Thanks for your help Adam.

Thanks for the confirmation.

ME7.5 is correct.

Believe me, it gives me great shame to ask for this, because I know this forum gets inundated with people asking for favours all of the time, but hear me out on this one, I'm desperate...

I've tried to read my EEPROM tonight using argdub's tool. No luck in either bootmode on the bench or over OBD in the car. I have a feeling it's something to do with the complexity brought about by the Infineon processor - getting it into boot mode was a b!tch to say the least. 032 TL, for the record.

However, I can write to the EEPROM in bootmode without a problem.

So, my original plan of creating a spare clone ECU is currently out of the window, seeing as I can't get a read from my spare without desoldering.

Does anybody have an immo off that is confirmed working for an ME7.5 Infineon CPU?

That way I could at least have an immo off ECU as a backup.

I would attempt to learn how to immo off my own EEPROM but seeing as I can't read it, I'm up sh!t creek without a paddle here... And I don't want to be messing with my known good ECU without having a spare  Huh

Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried manually tracing and setting the pin for the eeprom software?

A log of the tool output might shed some light.

Well last night I discovered that my FTDI drivers had corrupted for some unexplained reason...

So I reinstalled those and attempted a read through OBD again today.

No luck.

Argdub's begins to read for a good 60 seconds before printing "FAIL".

I cycled the key, and scanned through OBD. P0606 error.

Car started 3 times in a row just fine, no CEL. I am going to assume at this point that it is OK.

However - I am panicked. I've got a long journey to make tomorrow and I don't want any troubles.  Angry

I've broken out my spare ECU, put it into bootmode, and flashed an immo off file onto it.

I've also flashed my map from my normal ECU over, so I have an immo off'd clone.

I've read both the EEPROM and the map on the spare ECU, and can confirm that they both uploaded OK.

So why on earth can't I read the EEPROM through OBD? Any ideas? Huh

Another n00b post by me, I apologise. Tongue

Is there anyway you can read the EEPROM and bypass immo authentication?  Huh

ArgDub's tool won't read it through the OBD.

But it can read my spare ECU which is immo off'd...

My car is running just fine with no immo problems.

How on earth am I going to read the EEPROM on my ECU, when it fails in the car, and I can't authenticate the immo on a bench?! Sad

Try a bench read?

If it doesnt read, read it in boot mode! That was the only way mine would read. Btw, you want to read the EEPROM, but you dont want to do anything to the immo? It seems you want to read the flash on the bench from your post, you can do so when you have disabled the immo after reading and writing the EEPROM.

I'm sure it's the cluster and is in the main thread, lol.

Just bootmode it works a treat.

I will try a bench read this weekend in bootmode. Thanks guys.

I want to read the eeprom so that I can dump it onto my spare ECU, therefore creating a working clone (with Immobiliser!)
