Hi all,

I've been trying to bootmode flash my ECU with a lot of guidance from adam on here (thanks to him for that). I have 13.5v approx supplied to the ECU but keep getting the 'bootmode inactive' message when i try to write the file with galletto. I'm using the EOBD 1260 cable also with the FTDI VCP drivers. I have also uninstalled the VCDS drivers on my computer as i heard they may conflict.

the ECU is:

ME7.5 06A 906 032 TL
29F800BB
Infineon chip

i have successfully managed to re-flash the EEPROM using the Argdub tool with my FTDI cable but so far have had no luck with galletto. Nefmoto will still read ECU info when i remove the 10k resistor i have used to get the ECU into bootmode. I'm using windows vista also.

If I've not given enough info but if not please let me know - I hope someone may be able to shed some light on this issue for me Smiley

If you flash the EEPROM using the Argdub tool you are in boot mode.

use your FTDI cable.

For some reason, those china galletto cables do not work. Just change serial number on galletto executable to match your FTDI serial number.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! I found that thread earlier and managed to edit the .exe so it would look for my FTDI cable rather than the galletto one. Unfortunately it was the same problem, it showed bootmode inactive. I'm really not sure what may be causing this now?

What rights are you running the file with?  I had no issues whatsoever with my China copy Galletto on XP.

How are you trying to get bootmode?

You could only flash eeprom if in bootmode, so, at least, you got bootmode 1 time.

I ran as administrator on the laptop running vista, just tried it again and no luck - using the ftdi cable  Undecided

I have soldered a 10k resistor between pins 24 and 32 - this needs to stay in place for the full flashing process and is still in place now just as it was when flashing the eeprom with argdub. I've tried to attach a picture of the screen with the error showing.

If ME7.5 is like ME7.1 you should only ground pin 24 when turning power on then few seconds later let go.

My ECU is me7.5 and uses an Infineon processor.

Someone a while ago struggled to get it into bootmode but then used a 10k resistor across pin 24 & 32

End of page 5 and page 6 mention it. I'm fairly confident it is actually in bootmode as it wouldn't have let me write the 95040 would it? I've ordered mpps but in the meantime it would be cool to get galletto to work. I'm out of ideas as I'm pretty new to this  Embarrassed

Verify bootmode with FT232RL cable and Nefmoto.  It'll confirm bootmode, but not allow you to do anything.

Here's a screenshot of me trying to confirm bootmode with nefmoto flasher and the F232RL cable.

I have tried lowering the baudrate too in between tries disconnecting for 10 seconds before powering up again. I also experienced nefmoto not responding a couple of times which has never happened before other than when trying to verify bootmode. I could previously write the eeprom with no issues but now it seems i cant write it.

EDIT: please ignore the info about 95040 not writing - i managed to get it to write again. Though nefmoto still wont confirm bootmode.

The problem is now sorted! ECU successfully flashed with galletto. I uninstalled all the FTDI drivers from the computer as that's what the galletto cable kept deciding to use. With the galletto drivers installed the cable came under USB controllers rather than com ports which is what tripped me up as i assumed this wasn't right. After i installed the galletto drivers and tried it as is... it flashed first time.

ECU is now back on the car Smiley hopefully this may help a fellow noob in the future. Thanks for all the help!  Grin

Mine still doesn't come up like that, but okay, glad it works. Tongue
