Need help with ecu coding that won't take.
« on: January 09, 2016, 02:58:37 PM »
So here is deal. I purchased an ecu(sometime ago). This is an L box that I was going to run in my b box 2000. So I go to install everything and find out the coding on the L box is 06611. I have everything done and it runs but I get the p1612 code and my transmission is like in dumb mode. I have tried multiple times to code my ecu to 06651 with zero success. Every time I try it just goes right back. I have tried the login. Seems to do nothing.... I am stumped. I need the experts and that's why I am here.... Any and all help is very much appreciated!!!

The only reasons the coding wouldn't stick on an ME7.x ecu:
1. The engine is running.
2. The coding is not supported.
Take a screenshot of the ecu number in vag-com, then go into nefmoto, and hit read ecu info. Screenshot that as well.

I can take a screenshot of the ecu in vcds. I am currently not running nefmoto. Was planning to start playing with it with this ecu. What do you mean by the coding is not supported? As in the number I am giving it doesn't exist??? Thanks for your help. Also below is the number on the ecu itself.

You are trying to put S4 coding in an A6 ecu.
4B0907551L supports the following coding variants:
06652
06752
The last digit is irrelevant to function, so you don't have to worry.

It is my understanding I can make an A6 ecu work right? If so which one of those would I want for a 2000 s4 tip?
I am on my way home and will be able to check the number in VCDS shortly.
Thanks!!!

Considering A is a manual ecu, it makes perfect sense that it won't accept tiptronic coding.
Flash it with a tiptronic file, then try your coding.

I'm confused. Install Nef, flash a file. Done.

I can do that just haven't gotten that far yet. where would I get said tiptronic file. Or would I have to start flashing from my b box and start on a tune. I was hoping to put that tune on so I had a jumping off point that was tuned.
