I have a 2000 A6 4.2 with a 6-speed swap.  I just tried to write an AQH S8 ECU file to the car, in an attempt to have a manual (non-auto) file on the car.  I cant do the S6 file that the other guys are doing, because my early A6 is me7.1, not me7.1.1 like the later cars.

The file flashed OK, but the car wouldnt run.  It ran for a second, and then shut down, displaying SERVICE!

I pulled the engine codes in Vagcom and got this:

4 Faults Found:
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30
P1602 - 35-00 - Voltage too Low
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
P1570 - 35-00 -
18034 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1626 - 35-00 - Missing Message from TCU
18058 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1650 - 35-00 - Missing Message from Instrument Cluster
Readiness: 0000 0000

It really seems like the ECU is looking for the immobilizer, and shuts down the engine when it cant find it.  After flashing back to the original file, the car started.  The fault codes looked like this after the original was back:

Address 01: Engine Labels: None
Part No: 4D0 907 558 S
Component: 4.2L V8/5V G 0007
Coding: 06652
Shop #: WSC 87119
VCID: 3D7FC55E37DAFDF00A3

3 Faults Found:
18010 - Power Supply Terminal 30
P1602 - 35-10 - Voltage too Low - Intermittent
18034 - Powertrain Data Bus
P1626 - 35-00 - Missing Message from TCU
17524 - Oxygen (Lambda) Sensor Heating; B1 S1
P1116 - 35-00 - Open Circuit
Readiness: 0110 1101

So, my question is, can the immobilizer be disabled by coding it out in the S8 code?

The S8 ECU file I used is from the following thread:

Oh, and one last thing....

Is it possible to tell if the S8 AQH code is from a 6speed or an auto car?  Or do I recode this in Vagcom later?

This is a potentially good thread, if the older members chime in here.  There's a new map finder tool, which was posted early today which could assist you in your search.  In particular, there's a map called VARDEF which RS4Boost has discussed, which governs the regulation of the type of allowable engine soft codings.  Apparently there's a coding table, which shows the "set of allowable codings".  I wonder, is there also an immo variable / flag that can be written in the ECU of me7?  I'd recommend checking out the FR / Funktionenrahmen for Bosch ME 7.1 for VAG.   I doubt its there though.  this is the kind of thing silentbob probably has memorized.

The file that belongs in your box, doesn't have the immobiliser routine in it, and the S8 file does. Just defeat the immo in the eeprom... problem solved.

The new file you flashed it also from an auto.

Great info.  I definitely need the manual S8 file to begin with.

Defeating the immo in the EEPROM is exactly what I want to do, but don't know how.  Can you direct me to any writeups that explain this further?

In the meantime, Ill have to track down a manual AQH S8 file.

Thanks for the help!

How can the IMMO-routine be defeated in general on ME7?  I really need to do this on the K-box to finish off the thead RS4Boost started a few weeks ago.

Just adjust a few values in the EEPROM, there is plenty of info about it.
