Title: ME7 ECU Coding Chart / Guide
Post by: Nosbeui on April 09, 2018, 08:09:52 AM
Hey all this is compiled from VCDS definitions and other knowledge to make a more complete reference table for the coding stored in EEPROM.

16bit value located in EEPROM 7A,7B and 8A,8B (reverse values ex. 7E1D becomes 1D7E or 07550 in decimal)

In general, the ECU can't modify its own flash unless it is in programming mode (or obviously bootmode)

Hi, i need to change ecu soft coding, because i made my car awd from fwd. Ecu ME7.5, coding 00002. Another car, from which i take all parts has ME7.1.1 ecu with coding 00132. Both coding doesnt mach with chart in this page.  What should i to do next - take coding from ME7.1.1 ecu or create new by chart in this page?

All possible variants stored in VARTAB (vardef has default one)

Hi ,  I have swapped a manual trans into my A3 1.8T and have changed the EEPROM coding from 0011550 to 0011500 but the ECU/ABS & Cluster are still looking for comms from the TCU. I've looked at the ABS and cluster coding but there doesn't appear to be any changes i can make that relate to the auto trans.
Any ideas what i'm missing?

thanks

did it save the 0011500 coding? Sometimes you need to login in order to save the changes.

Tip ecus cannot be recoded to manual, reflash it first
What make some people seriously think that if its cannot be changed with vcds, changing it in eeprom solve all? thats not how the things work

Do you mean i cannot use the auto ecu or i need to flash a manual file to it?

thanks

Most ME7.1 ECUs have trans specific ECUs flash PNs and cannot be recoded. You have to flash the right file.

your best bet is to share your files, get the manual version of it, update the eeprom based off the vartab like mentioned above and checksum and flash both files..

Hello
Please help me with a stock 1.8T AMK file to communicate with the automatic gearbox, I installed a DSG DQ250 6 speed gearbox and it doesn't communicate with it.
I tried to recode the ecu and I didn't succeed. It communicates ok with the ABS unit.
My stock file is 8N0906018AG 0261207213 360320 and the coding is 11500.
I understood that it should be coded to 11570, and I didn't manage to do that.
Maybe someone can help me.
Thank you
