im attaching a file that is currently on my car - 2001.5 Audi S4 6 speed manual
awe-tuning side mount ic's with carbon fiber shrouds
awe turbo back exhaust with hi flow cats
phenolic intake spacers, samco full intake and ic hose kit, awe s flo intake
jhm efk, rs4 clutch and pressure plate with aasco lwfw
88mm maf housing with bosch ev14 60# injectors, walbro 450 fuel pump
i hope that covers it all, the log is from a little while ago...lemme know what you guys think

It would be more helpful to do 3rd gear WOT pull but from what I can tell... you inputting around 80% of gas pedal, the PID controller goes flat once you exceed boost limit (you're overboosting at that moment) and it flat lines to 10% with boost still rising. With functional N75/wastegates the turbos should only make wastegate base pressure at that time but yours are going full tilt.

You also have a horrible timing associated with it.

I would definitely look into N75 valve functionality and ensure that there is no leak in wastegate lines. Basically the turbos seem to be going 100% boost without any reaction to ECU attempting to control wastegates.

gotcha, I know that log file was prior to the current file(attached) in the first post. I will log a 3rd gear run today and attach it if that sounds good??

egt's too high and timing too low, maybe adding some timing will help with egt's

what turbos are you runing?

Who's file did you just post?

Mine.

OP: Logs, trims, whatever else is good. Please don't post binaries. Mine, or anyone elses.

sorry i didn't know files were not meant to be posted, again apologies..... i have srm rs6/k24 turbos. im guessing its ok to post logs in here then, seeing as how that wasn't removed??

i just logged a very recent run, lemme know if this looks any better/worse, its a 3rd gear run as well.

Not a problem posting logs, but if you aren't going to make the changes yourself, what is the point?

just seeing how things look, from a different perspective. Is it unwise to get other opinions on how my car is performing? I like the input and information and points of view from others, if for no other reason than just to know. thats all. I trust Daz and what he says, he is the one tuning my car and ultimately adjusting it however he sees fit.

someday i would like to be able to tune a car like mine, or another audi for that matter. I wish there was a place that could train me on how to properly use the software you guys do, read it, change it, what to look for and so forth. I think its awesome. But I do not wish to mess something up on my own car at the moment, maybe if I had a second car that I could mess with and not have to rely so heavily on. I do appreciate your comments and wisdom

That is a fine goal!

IMO you should consider writing your own file, and have daz's file as a backup ecu ..

That's a great idea, someday I would love to write my own file, I hope I can catch some of Daz's knowledge and tuning  POWAHH .... I do also hope to gather as much as I can from the rest of the respected enthusiasts out there. Thanks for the input so far.

thats true, I am trying to educate myself any chance i get, the s4wiki tuning section is awesome...but a lot to take in. I am also seeking help from another tuner to try an square away what Daz the Man started!!! so i can always have my good file, before I go fudging up another file hahahahaha

i really wish i could have met or seen daz, i have no idea what the dood even looked like, but through the 100's of emails I feel like i have .....

I have a ? did you receive a map sensor adapter for you 3 bar map sensor?
The log looks ok to me maybe a little to much timing for my taste, just throw some meth inj on it.

I did receive a billet adapter for the 3 bar map sensor to mount into. Is the timing a little wild?? She feels strong..... I would like to add meth someday...idk how soon, but someday

I would reduce timing and lean mixture also

and more boost request early on

That is one of mine, did it come with the map sensor? This was a fairly new product I was doing with Daz, I was just looking for feedback.
Daz loved him some timing I'm guessing this is a 91 octane tune?

Hahahaha IDK if he did love his timing, my man who is tuning it now may, I'm still learning how to read these things, I've kept all my files and logs and I'm comparing ... Teaching myself kinda. I think the map is awesome. Works great. I have the 88mm MAF housing too I got from Daz. Seems to be doing the job as far as I know, if you had a hand in that, good job

Well yes and no, I did not build those we were able to get those so cheap it was not worth building. Does it have the air straightner/honeycomb? If so that was my thing. But the map adapter was new. Glad to hear you are happy. hope that tune keeps getting better.

yessir it does have the honeycomb....so far its tune is looking pretty good, just sent off the a couple more logs to the MAGICIAN to work his magic. car pulls so strong, so confident

allright sirs, what do you guys think so far??

Your knock voltage is very low to have that much timing retard.
With 24 PSI, you're seeing only 1.5 to 4.5 KW of timing in the upper load ranges, with a timing retard of: -4.5,   -5.25, -2.25, -3.75, -5.25, -4.5

That's not much timing, for it to be still pulling that much. I'm not sure what other factors could be leading to your Correction Factors.
I believe a conservative\safe tune would run anywhere from 0-3 degrees of timing retard and as a rule never more than 6 degrees of retard.

ok so im trying to finalize this tune, my tuner is telling me the same thing you guys are. The timing being pulled and the last 2 logs I got she went super lean at appx 6k rpm. Ive had this weird random totally odd misfire and lean at idle happen 3 times now. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I can drive all week to work and back, then take 15 miles of normal city driving with no issues, then I pull into my spot, hook up the laptop to check actual values and 5 minutes in, she is idling normal then BAM ......misfire noticeable through the sound of the engine obviously and afr reading pegged at lean. i just dont get it....no tells to when its going to happen, cold weather or hot....full tank or empty....hard aggressive driving or regular... i can turn the car off, walk away for 5 minutes and go back and start her and she runs just fine....please give me some guidance... assume I have checked everything a bagillion times but could possibly have missed anything in my frantic state of checking things...

walbro 450 pump from SRM with the billet adapter piece....bosch ev14 - 60# injectors......

update, im an idiot, my front o2's have been telling me they give up. I have new ones on the way...im betting they are the cause of all this timing pull, lack of boost build, boost cut and lean under load.

Title: Re: getting stage 3 tuning done, curious what you guys think of the file so far
Post by: corradovolksb on May 12, 2016, 08:26:56 PM
Yah your o2s are prob faulty but I would make sure your fuel pump is getting direct battery power from its own relay the 450 is known for having low fuel flow when wired to the factory fuel pump harness due to excessive voltage drop.
