I second this motion.

I saw a great nude TT in the yard of a body shop I went to this morning. The front and rear fenders and wings were off ;)

Just an update on this car...

Despite my odd torque intervention issues, the car put down 380WHP at my local dyno, and I just spent a gorgeous weekend at Spring Mountain

Car performed beautifully ALL weekend long (91 tune on 100 oct gas), with absolutely no problems. Rock solid power delivery everywhere, and very consistent part throttle response. I did keep missing third (tranny is getting sloppy as hell), and I have a bunch of oil all over the throttle body actuator for some reason (looks like its coming from the dipstick or the driver side BPV).

Nice.  What IRL/IOP scheme are you running with good part throttle response btw?

Post by: nyet on April 16, 2012, 08:43:13 PM
Same one i've always used... pretty much stock IOP with the 60%+ position lines of IRL elevated to a max of 210ish at 100%

Update: refreshed heads. Valves and valve guides shot. Cylinder heads totally crusty. Chain tensioners toast. K04's had lots of shaft play and blade nicks.

Motor back together with chinese k04s and putting down 414whp on 91oct... 105F ambient, 20% humidity, so not the best tuning conditions :/

Hopefully will get more out of it when it cools off.

Nice numbers. Which Chinese K04's?

I know we have talked about this, but can you confirm you've used those settings for TVUB?  Or did you just run the car on the dyno with them?
Real world / dyno are totally not comparable, obviously I'm not lecturing, you know better than I, but I just wanted to make sure you actually used the settings and not just calculated them.

Yup, i've been running those TVUBs for quite a few miles before we swapped the turbos. no problems. idle and part trims near zero.

mike@WMS sourced them. No clue where he gets them from.

boost control is a bitch with these wastegates.

Also, I'm out of fuel, need 4bar fpr.

Looking forward to hearing the update after the FPR adjustment.  Hey Nye - Do you think it'd be better to just goto 5-bar?  I was watching that video a while back that user Jason (from Arizona) had posted, extolling the benefits of higher FPR.

might need a two stage pump setup for 5bar + 1.5bar boost...

Hey-oh.... what?  I don't remember posting a video of that... but then again I forget a lot of things in my old age.  :D

I think he was referring to a video that I posted, hence why I asked for the link ha.

Sorry to resurrect, but this car was hardly 91 oct fuel only ( i.e. meth etc). Great figures if so in regards to power and timing used.

My car is purely 91oct, no water meth :)

WOW!! How? Ive looked through all pics and logs on nyet.org/cars/info and im stumped. Struggling here to make 300awhp with shit irish fuel.

the secret is lower compression and running super super rich.

Interesting. Well decreasing compression is not an option yet but how rich is super rich? 11:1 or even 10:1 or less

11.0-11.5

btw this is 91 R+M not RON

It's worth noting that in some engine designs running richer than 11:1 can actually induce detonation. So some extra fuel can cool but too much fuel can be bad. There is also the constant issue of excess fuel ending up in the oil and causing bearing failure. This is becoming more common with poorly tuned DI engines with excessive fuel that does not have sufficient time to properly vaporize and combust.
