Title: 2010 S4 3.0T - logging
Post by: vtraudt on September 06, 2018, 11:02:50 AM
Installed smaller SC pulley and stage 2 tune.
Car does not feel a lot more powerful. But rather than relying on assdyno, would like to log some data.
What is available, and what parameters correlate most with HP or TQ?
3.0T is MAFless (right?) so no direct MAF readings.
Can VCDS be used (and what parameters)?
Other logging software that works with the S4 ECU?

Should be as those cars could produce 430 to 450 with one pulley and a good remap.

You can use vcds.  It’s uds so search engine speed, actual and requested boost, ignition angle, ignition retard and actual and requested lambda. That should give you an idea of how its performing.

I've been working on a bit of 3.0t development myself, since I just bought a 2013 s4.  With a pulley and a tune, they don't produce a bunch more power than stock until after 5000 rpm, not quite like a turbo charged engine.  That's around the point that the stock calibration starts bleeding boost.

I have some vcds logging templates that I could upload to share, if that would help.

After using being used to ME7Logger, VCDS is crippling in comparison.   10 vars per sample @ 6 frames per second makes me sad.  If anyone is willing to share a better UDS logger, or is willing to help develop one, I'm all ears.

That would be helpful; also post up some of your logs for comparison (I will do the same).
Just curious: what kind of boost is the stock (and a stage 1 and stage 2 single) running?

Please upload (or email; info@kraftwerkturbo.com).

Yes, i think that dyno graph illustrates what I said pretty well.  "A bunch" is relative.  Most of the power gain is after 5k.... Don't you agree?  :)

No, I don't.

4000 rpm, 250hp to 290hp. 16% power gain.
I'd say 16% is fairly noticeable and that's through the rev range.
Also, your statement about the stock tune bleeding after 5k is wrong too, it bleeds everywhere.

I did not cherry pick a run, there are cars that have ~20% gains.

My point being with Stage 2 there is a very noticeable difference already from 2500 rpm.
