Title: Me7.5 immo defeat without boot mode trough obd
Post by: volksdude on October 01, 2013, 05:01:12 AM
Ok here's my problem. Got a 2.0 turbo ME7.5 ecu here from a "big tuner " wich I need to immo defeat. However I had the bad surprise of finding goop on all chips on the board. ( I kind of understand why there is goop on chips where I could syphon the flash but on the 95040?? Really?? Whats the point? )

So I'm wondering if there's a way to immo defeat that damn ecu trough OBD without sending it in boot mode. Or if there is a pin on ecu connector that can send the ecu in biot mode so I can use the program available here to immo defeat it... Or in last resort a way to remove the goop without damaging the chip.

You can use a tool like VAG Commander, or Vagdashcom/Vagdashcan.
This tool not require boot mode.

Depending on what big tuner this may not work anyhow.
I know GAIC has a really weird 95040 file.

2.0 8v. I managed to find an alternative onnthe board to ground the pin for bootmode. As for the file I just flashed the immo off file to avoid hassles

I have tried to immo off a GIAC ecu with VagDashCan and it wouldn't save it to the 95040.
The 95040 was pretty standard at least in terms of the immo off locations.
But I could not get it to save and being ME7.1.1 I couldn't get it into boot mode.
I have lots of trouble with those and boot mode.

I gave up on doing those without a hot air station.

giac's (and others) tunes are tied to the 95040 contents.  you must dump the original 95040 contents and manually change the 2 hex values and checksums while leaving the rest stock and reflashing it.

Well if thats the case I'll have a look at the original bin i read before flashing the immo off file.

On another note, can someone explain me why they gooped the 95040 ?? Is there any vital info to get from there? ( other than what you just explained about the immo file tied to the flash )

That's the exact reason.
So you can't IMMO off it easily and take it to another car.
You must use the original 95040 to retain the tune.
