Title: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 04, 2014, 10:40:51 PM Hi everyone I have a 2004 1.8t A4 that I would like to dump the ecu on. I only want to do this so I can obtain the SKC code so a can adapt new keys. I have no intention of tuning or disabling the immo. I tried the software a few months ago but I could not get it read the ecu over obd on the 1.8t or even my b6 s4 that I tried just for the hell of it. I am now going to try to do this again. If I remove the ECU and put it in boot mode is it guaranteed to work? Thanks the ECU part number is 8E0 909 518 AK
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 04, 2014, 10:56:48 PM You do not need to do any of this. Find and download either vag k+commander, or vag eeprom programmer 1.9
DO NOT USE VAG K+CAN on the cluster, JUST THE ECU. Vag eeprom programmer will only work on the cluster and is safe. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 05, 2014, 07:12:40 AM Do the ECU or cluster have to be removed from the car?
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 05, 2014, 11:16:01 AM No, in car is fine.
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 06, 2014, 03:01:58 PM Im going to try this tonight. I downloaded vag eeprom prog. 1.19. Is there anything I should be careful with while attempting this? I have an old blue ebay cable i am going to use. What are the steps to this? For example should the ignition be on? Does this program work on all Audi/VWs?
Thank you very much for your help! Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 06, 2014, 03:08:09 PM Ignition of course must be on. Vag eeprom programmer is safe. DO NOT write anything, just read. The login code will be displayed at the bottom center.
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 06, 2014, 03:19:08 PM Thank you for the prompt reply. Is this software really that simple to use? Everyone on all other forums say that SKCs cannot be retrieved and that you must go to the dealer to get keys made. Also it says set mileage at the bottom right. I would imagine there has to be more security than that correct? Otherwise people would be doing that right and left!

People are definitely changing their mileage left and right. It's really as simple as pressing one button. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 06, 2014, 07:16:56 PM Please do not change your mileage, it may brick your crypto cluster.
That, and you are not retrieving the SKC, but rather the login code that people mistakenly call the SKC. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 07, 2014, 01:12:46 AM I was able to use the software but I do not see any log in code anywhere. I went to dash>bosch>a4>read encrypted. It completed successfully and created a 1 kb .bin file. The software told me in order to retrieve the code i need to go to dash>bosch>get access code. I did this and it said it successfully retrieved it but i cannot find it. i found a dash.dat file with my vin in it but i don't see any obvious codes.
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 07, 2014, 01:24:01 AM Once you hit READ and it reads, at the bottom in the MIDDLE there will be a section
IMMO LOGIN ETC Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 07, 2014, 09:12:50 AM Hmm.. I know that box was empty after the read finished. I should be reading the dash eeprom not the "immobox" epprom correct? What is there difference between read encrypted or decrypted?

Post by: prj on March 07, 2014, 02:33:05 PM Do not read the cluster, you do not need to. Read ECU EEPROM over OBD, it contains the login code.
Use that code to login to the cluster and code keys. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 07, 2014, 05:00:48 PM Ok so just use the same program to dump ECU?
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: ddillenger on March 07, 2014, 05:47:30 PM Read what I wrote IN MY FIRST REPLY please.
Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 08, 2014, 12:39:57 AM Ok I was able to get the code, Thanks for the help. Would I be able to use this same method on my b7 rs4? I wouldn't mind making another key for that too.

Post by: ddillenger on March 09, 2014, 07:00:21 PM Your B7 RS4 doesn't use the K-line, thus the K-line tools won't connect. It's like asking why you can't play DVD's with your VHS player.

It's like asking why you can't play DVD's with your VHS player. Well I was only asking because the cluster still runs off k line and the program says it supports can. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: f1torrents on March 10, 2014, 05:51:50 AM WFS4 is a totally different beast.
Don't mess with it unless you are willing and able to deal with the consequences. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 10, 2014, 11:22:55 AM WFS4 is a totally different beast. Don't mess with it unless you are willing and able to deal with the consequences. No one on this forum seems like they directly answer any questions.. It would be much more helpful to me if someone helped me with things instead of just saying: Nope or you better be willing to deal with the consequences, or PLEASE REREAD FIRST POST. Half of your guys' posts contradict one another. All I am wondering is what the differences are between the years and such. because with an exception of the 2 ecus there doesn't seem to be that much different between the rs4s and a4s. Half of your guys' posts contradict one another. All I am wondering is what the differences are between the years and such. because with an exception of the 2 ecus there doesn't seem to be that much different between the rs4s and a4s. The RS4 uses a completely different generation of immobilizer. NO k-line interface will connect to that car whatsoever, it MUST be a CAN-bus tool. Even if you were to buy a cloned tool that SAYS it will work, chances are it will brick the cluster and you will end up with a DEF error requiring professional repair. If you want to DIY this, but the original, authentic vag-tacho. It is available from the makers, here: http://www.opelinfo.com/ USING ANY CLONE TOOL ON THAT CAR IS LIKELY TO CAUSE DAMAGE. Other than that, what specifically do you need to know? I think I answered all of your questions directly. As for me telling you to re-read my first post, it contained the answer you were looking for did it not? You asked: Ok so just use the same program (Vag eeprom programmer) to dump ECU? My very first post in your thread: Vag eeprom programmer will only work on the cluster. I put a lot of thought into my replies. I'm sorry if you didn't put the same effort into reading them as I did writing them. I'm more than a little bothered by your attitude. We're a group of (unpaid) enthusiasts. Quite frankly if you had any idea of the effort I put into reading and replying (to the best of my abilities) to all of these posts, I feel as though you'd have a different perspective. Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 10, 2014, 10:19:55 PM I'm really not trying to be a jerk you guys just kept confusing me with everything. Like first you said to dump the cluster but then someone said not to. and someone said changing the mileage is as easy as pushing one button.. I know you guys are much smarter than me but I really am interested in learning about this stuff.

Title: Re: Want to dump 1.8t 2004 ecu. Post by: evolution2147 on March 13, 2014, 08:28:56 AM Morning everyone, Has anyone ever heard about this as an alternative to vagtacho?
