Title: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 29, 2015, 07:12:35 AM Hi, what's the best way to setup a work bench outside the cars? I.e what connectors I need ect?
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: k0mpresd on June 29, 2015, 08:08:26 AM ecu , obd2, psu.
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 29, 2015, 09:33:55 AM ecu , obd2, psu. I've got all three.. I've got an old PSU from a computer, What wires am I soldering ect? is there a useful guide I can follow Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: turboat on June 29, 2015, 10:37:12 AM These threads show you which pins need connecting for a me7.1 and me7.5 respectively:

Its pretty straight forwards, you only need +12v power, earth and k-line. Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: turboat on June 30, 2015, 12:24:19 AM Yes there is a pin out for m3.8.3 around somewhere, but you cannot read that ecu using the k-line, only write it - although nefmoto doesn't work for that, you need mpps
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 30, 2015, 05:35:38 AM So how would I edit the existing map on the Ecu it's self?
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: tjwasiak on June 30, 2015, 06:40:13 AM Desolder, read using programmer, resolder and then flash it as needed.

Hi, what do you mean desolder I'm really new to this and I'm willing to learn.. is there a document I could read? Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on June 30, 2015, 10:22:36 AM Hi, what do you mean desolder I'm really new to this and I'm willing to learn.. is there a document I could read? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLHqotibc7k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmqXinMBUeA Hot air is preferable Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 30, 2015, 10:37:24 AM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLHqotibc7k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmqXinMBUeA Hot air is preferable Ok thanks for that, so how would you read the chip? Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on June 30, 2015, 11:05:44 AM Ok thanks for that, so how would you read the chip? EEPROM programmer, such as a willem http://www.ebay.com/bhp/chip-burner Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 30, 2015, 11:48:55 AM EEPROM programmer, such as a willem http://www.ebay.com/bhp/chip-burner This one any good? -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TL866CS-USB-Universal-Minipro-Programmer-EEPROM-FLASH-8051-AVR-MCU-GAL-PIC-SPI-L-/161736984370?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item25a8468732 Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 30, 2015, 12:04:34 PM Would this be fin to act as a powering up for the work bench? if so does anyone no what Wires are what because I ain't got a clue :/
Sorry for the noobie questions! I'm egar to learn (http://i.imgur.com/3RdbdOC.jpg) (http://i.imgur.com/NPvl1Sh.jpg) Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on June 30, 2015, 12:07:48 PM Yellow is typically 12V, but you'll want to double check with a volt meter.
Also, a PC supply is probably overkill... you can make do with a 1000mA 12v wall wart. I'm trying to do this on a budget sort of thing, going scrapyard Saturday to pick up an obd port and ecu plugging s Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on June 30, 2015, 12:14:13 PM Would it be fine to use? Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on June 30, 2015, 12:15:44 PM Okay, Ill report back when I need some more help :D cheers nyet
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 01, 2015, 09:47:30 AM Still struggling, I'm trying to find the 12v on this psu but ain't getting anything back from the Multimeter
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on July 01, 2015, 10:35:55 AM Still struggling, I'm trying to find the 12v on this psu but ain't getting anything back from the Multimeter All PSUs have a momentary "on" lead that has to be shorted to bring up the PSU. It is assumed you knew this. Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 01, 2015, 01:43:41 PM Other than plugging the PSU and powering it on.. I had a understanding something had to be jumper in order to actually power the PSU.. hence why I plug it in and the PSU fan doesn't spin even though It's powered
Anyhow I've manged to jump it Green + Black = PSU power.. Getting a 12v from the yellow and Black is an earth Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: turboat on July 02, 2015, 01:58:21 AM That sounds right.
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: turboat on July 02, 2015, 02:00:00 AM EEPROM programmer, such as a willem http://www.ebay.com/bhp/chip-burner Ok theyre a lot cheaper than I expected! Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: nyet on July 02, 2015, 10:14:05 AM Ok theyre a lot cheaper than I expected! Make sure you get a PSOP44 adapter! Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: tjwasiak on July 02, 2015, 10:20:35 AM It might be wise to buy also proper adapter for EEPROMs...
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 02, 2015, 11:16:17 AM I've just installed MPPS V13 - I've loaded the program up and I cannot find the ECU.. the only one listed is the 1.8T me5.8.5 IIRC I can't find the me3.8.3
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 02, 2015, 11:24:53 AM the pins on the me3.8.3 ecu are different also

(http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j31/Panicos/ME38.jpg) (Found by google image search for 'mpps m3.8.3') Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 03, 2015, 02:22:55 AM Thanks I managed to do it after I posted that last night ;) next problem In MPPS I can't actually find the ME3.8.3 I know you cant read from the ecu.
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: tjwasiak on July 03, 2015, 02:40:33 AM You should look for M3.8.3 as it is not DBW ECU :D
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 03, 2015, 03:24:03 AM That's the thing in MPPS itself I can't find the ecu listed for ME3.8.3
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: eliotroyano on July 03, 2015, 04:43:46 AM That's the thing in MPPS itself I can't find the ecu listed for ME3.8.3 Look for any 1.8T M592 ECU...... Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: TurboWarrior on July 03, 2015, 11:48:56 AM Won't read it :/
Title: Re: Workbench setups help Post by: eliotroyano on July 03, 2015, 11:51:16 AM With MPPS you will be able to ID and WRITE only, M383's ECUs. READ is not possible.
