yeah sounds like hes in a predicament, i have been in similar situation , like u said though old  SKC is retrieved from orig ECU, but yeah getting the second one seems tricky, i wonder if supervag will do it with no soldering needed, i understand you could read the MCU by wiring it up, but there has to be a easier way, my AVDI lets me do this with no direct MCU wiring, so i imagine there is other solutions, Im just curious now myself.
