I wonder if this is the same scenario as the 2.7 allroad "S" file that wouldn't clear programming mode once the read was completed.  Creating the no start issue and code P1681 thrown for Control Module Programming Not Finished.   Have you scanned for codes yet?

So what's the solution?

Can we do a full read successfully with nefmoto on these 4.2s without bricking? Or is it boot mode only?

So here's what's going on, I read the codes and it said programming not finished. I should of saved the codes but I was going to try a quick boot mode to see if it would revive. I bootmoded it successfully and installed it back in the car. Now I have zero communication to the ecu yay me. I churched the pins and re flashed it. Still zero communication, and when I turn the key it shows no check engine light as if zero communication is made and ecu is shot. I pulled the Eeprom with me7eeprom tool. I looked for death code and everything was fine. So my brother is out a car till I get another ecu.
