Hi,

hope there is someone who can help me...
I've tried the first time to read my ECU, over the OBD plug of the car, but it Fails.
First my Car is a Audi S4 B5 2001 6 Speed with AZB Motor, here are the Infos from the slowinit (that works fine)

Quote
Validated FTDI device is in dumb mode.
Disconnected
Connecting...
Starting slow init connection.
Connecting to address 0x01.
Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP1281 session.
KWP1281 connect info: ¸D0907551G  2.7l V6/5VT     G   0001
[/i]

First I tried it with "29F800BB" Memory Layout, that failed cause it Looks like I have the "29F800BT" Layout.

here is the log what happens with "29F800BB" Memory Layout:

Quote
Slow init succeeded.
Switching to KWP2000 session.
Connected
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Reading ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
ECU reports that security access request was rejected.
Starting diagnostic session.
Successfully started diagnostic session.
Negotiating communication timings.
Reading ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.
[/i]

Thats the log, whats happens with "29F800BT" Memory Layout:

Quote
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Reading ECU flash memory.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
Security access granted.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
Security access granted.
Validating flash memory starts at 0x00800000 and ends at 0x00900000.
Memory layout is valid.
Starting to read data block.
Requesting upload from ECU for address range 0x00800000 to 0x0080FFFF.
Request upload from ECU succeeded.
Starting data transfer.
1% complete.
Reading ECU flash memory failed. Trying to force ECU to recognize read operation is complete.
Finished forcing ECU to recognize that failed read operation is complete.
Reading ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.

Then I tried to set Baudrate to 38400 like it says the getting started guide, what happens here:

Quote
Disabling Windows sleep mode.
Reading ECU flash memory.
ECU reports programming session preconditions have been met.
Negotiating communication timings.
Successfully changed to new communication timings.
Requesting security access.
Disconnecting because no response was received for the Tester Present message.
Disconnected
Reading ECU flash memory failed.
100% complete.
Restoring Windows sleep mode.

It looks like, trying it with 29F800BT layout and 12480Baud rate is the right way.
But why does it fail ?
Software is original and the cable I have should be supportet (I know another guy who successfully read his RS4 with this cable).
Log says "Access granted" and "Layout Valid".
I have ~12v and the Engine is stoped, only ignition is on.

Hope someone can help me, I found some other threads, where People has similar Problems, but there was no solution for me :/

Same engine/ecu here and no problems

seems that you have a bussy k-line, try boot-mode or run a direct k-line

Likely not a stock ECU.

S4s generally do not have k-line issues.

I could not get nefmoto to work with s4 c and d box and rs4, but on the bench, with immo off, it works.

I don't have a Benchtable, my next step would be, buying a MPPS cable and try it with that cable in boot mode.
Hope that works.

Does the bootmode works over OBD port or do I need a Benchtable ?

Boot mode can be done with ecu in car and on bench.

On car is a little bit tricky as  you need to hold pin turn ignition on then pull pin off.

Sometimes to boot on car you need to pull dash fuse if you cannot get it to boot.

Bench better and safer.

Use your Cable to run galletto for bootmode. No need to buy and wait for mpps from .cn

I used now MPPS and that worked fine, but not with Windows 10 64 bit, maybe that was the Problem with Nefmoto, too.
I used another Notebook with Win 7 32 Bit and was able to read AND flash the ECU with MPPS.
