Hi,

I have an issue with me7logger working okay on my spare ECU but not working via the ODB2 port on my car's ECU?

Is this a setting on the ECU Map file somehow, the Car's port / cable combination or maybe the actual ECU?

You can see the Logger worked when connected with my blue KKL lead to an ECU connected to a power supply and the extra messages I get when trying to log whilst in the car (same cable, same port, same laptop)

any ideas?

Thanks

You may need to wire a dedicated k-line from the ecu to the obd connector in your car

Hi Nyet, thanks for your help.  If requiring a modification, is this an issue with the ecu or wiring loom? I have my spare ECU which works okay on a bench not sure if I ever tested this ECU on the bench for ME7Logger.  Spare was purchased with IMMO off and the one in the car at the moment is the car's original map.

I can write to ecu whilst in the car - using MPPS and dedicated lead and also use VCDS Lite via the blue KKL lead without issues?  I know the forum standard is to use ME7Logger - but in special cases if only VCDS Lite Logging works would that be acceptable (I am just considering buying the $99 hobby version as it also allows me to get DIS working with my A4 multi CD symphony) - or VCDS Lite also use K-Line for logging?

I will look for a guide on this K-Line Modification - I am a little ham fisted with bad eyes (close vison and colour blind) - so would rather be doubly sure this change is required.

Sorry to give you bad news, but this is a huge problem with some ME7 cars; some are just very difficult to talk to with the K-line at high speed.

Some you can unplug the cluster (or just the fuse) and they'll work, some you have to reduce the baud rate, some you have to run a dedicated kline

some NEVER work right.

The problem is, VCDS is pretty much insufficient to do a proper tune, even just a basic stage 1

I wish I had better news for you, but i don't.

As far as I know in some cars ME7 is not connected by K-Line, but by W-Line to the instrument cluster that operates as a gateway. In that case this kind of gateway makes some trouble. Reroute K-Line pin of ME7 directly to OBD-port (maybe with a switch) like nyet said before and me7logger should work like expected.

Okay thanks for your help,  there are quite a few guys on ASN advising the use of ME7Logger on their 8L S3's - so I will chase up this wiring loom modification with them.

Just use fastest speed (125000), use SLOW-0x00 init, turn ignition on, start logger, then start engine, and it will work.

Hi, my advice from someone on ASN was start by connecting NEFMOTO flasher to establish a port connection then start ME7 Logger - but I cannot even get NEFMOTO working on either the car of the bench setup.

The log file says cannot find licence and whenever I try and load an ECU Map (xml) it says the file has errors?  I have never used NEFMOTO so am probably doing something wrong - but on searching the forums the cable showing up in Device Manager is CH340 which is apparently bad.

I cannot see where I can set up the connection speed with the ME7Logger GUI?  - is that in a different config / ini file?

I will try and disconnect the cluster fuse too.

Thanks for the help.

Will try the visualme7logger interface as managed to get this working on the bench ECU Smiley

I cant upload an image I think I have hit a limit - but that does offer a connection speed etc.
