Hey all,
As some of you know i flashed my A4 1.8T with my friends tuned rolling road flash file, everything else on the engine is stock and ive been told i need to upgrade the Diverter Valve as it wont cope with the extra power?

The tuned file puts out approx 200bhp on my friends car.

does anyone know for sure if i need to upgrade the stock DV or not?

Thanks
Colin

I remember there being quite a bit of discussion on the Vortex surrounding the idea that the rubber diaphragm eventually fails once you run higher boost over time.  Not sure whether or not this is true.

The 225bhp 1.8t variants use the same valve.

In my personal experience, I felt that I held boost longer and it really did as shown on my boost gauge. Felt a little peppier, but that was on the butt dyno too. Made a nice sound. I had an apr d1 valve.

If everything else is stock, don't worry about it. Start modding? Then yes.

Thanks all for your input,

@ carlossus
"The 225bhp 1.8t variants use the same valve."

This gave me an idea to cross refrence the A4/TT in ETKA and the DV is used on two diffrent TT engines

BAM 225bhp
BFV 240bhp

Same part No. as the A4 1.8T 2001

Diverter Valve: 06A 145 710 P

So hopefully it should be fine with my tune.

Thanks

also, there are crazy high boost 2.7ts running stock DVs (710N or later) with no issues.
