Installed VVT cam chain tensioner (NOT connected; for future use) on AEB head on AMU engine with wideband converted ECU (from wideband Golf 032 LP).
Fighting -23 degree KW in block 093 and code 17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28) P1340 - 35-00 - Incor. Correlation

Redone and verified (independently by others) the timing. Engine runs and sounds great.

The -23 reminds me of the VVT change logs I have seen on VVT cars, also around 20-22 degrees.

Is it possible that the non activated VVT tensioner is causing the issues?

Can someone post the ECU wiring diagram for the 032LP ECU? What respective engine codes use this ECU?
Ditto helpful to have AMU wiring diagram.

What do negative values for "degree Kurbel Welle" in block 093 mean?
Example: too MANY chain links in cam chain?

17748 comes with the -23 degree in block93.
This is the offset in degree between crank and intake cam and should be zero.

Have you used the intake cam from the old head in the aeb head? Check the "thing" on the intake cam in the G40 sensor. Dont know the english word. Maybe they are different between M5.9 and ME7.

Is the engine running without strange noise?
Check the timing belt.
Check the position between both cams. (16 chain links)

A non activated vvt tensioner with correct oil pressure is the same than a "non vvt" tensioner.

I have an wideband converted car too (from 7.5.1 to 7.5.5). I use 032LP ECU too. This is my car with stock K03-026 turbo, 2.0 stroker, running on E100, 42lb/h injectors, stock intake, inlet, exhaust (only an sport muffler on the end).

As everyone here has stated there is no difference inbthe tensioners other than an added solenoid. The cams are even the same. I put my AWM parts in an AEB one thing i some how over looked and never really saw was the actual part that bolts to the cam for the hall effect windows those are different. ( the part that the cam position sensor pics up) the VVT has more holes that the non. If you are trying to run this setup with not VVT make sure you are using the non VVT hall ring. It bolts onto end of intake cam with i believe a 13mm bolt its easy to get to just take off cam sensor. My two sence hope its helpful
