This is the problem reported in the log file when trying to start the programming session: ConditionsNotCorrectOrRequestSequenceError.

Is the ECU on the bench or in the car?

I would test again with version 1.9.2.2 or later because it has better support for starting diagnostic sessions. I would specifically try connecting at 10400 baud to see if that solves the problem.

thanks Tony, ecu still in the car. I am just using the 800 memory layout because that seemed too work fine in the 1.8T b6, should I be using another memory layout?

Thanks for posting the log. Version 1.9.2.2 and using 10400 baud does allow for a successful connection.

The problem appears to be that the ECU is giving negative responses when trying to read the flash memory.

Does this ECU have an aftermarket tune on it?

Hi Tony

Not that I am aware of, the thing is I get the same result on my 1.8T b6 as well and that has my own tuned file on there so I suspect its something else.

It is entirely possible that the ECU does not support being read.

I would agree with you but the thing is mpps seems too read/write my 1.8T ecu fine, nefmoto will write too the 1.8T but not read. mpps seems too have the s4 model there but doesnt seem too pick up voltage and I dont have a stock file too test if nefmoto would write the s4 file.... to me it seems as if nefmoto flasher in general has an issue with the b6 model ecu's?

I don't own any B6 ECUs for testing, so it is possible there are some variations to the B6 the NefMoto software doesn't support.

It is also possible that MPPS is not using the official KWP2000 protocol for flashing, and instead is using some backdoor method. To verify this we would need to use a logic analyzer or serial port monitor to record the protocol MPPS is using.

sorry to dig this up again.

I have spoken to quite a few tuners and all of them say that this ECU should be port flashable, so I am hoping someone here can help me troubleshoot this issue.

So a quick refresher, my MPPS clone is not picking up external voltage from the ECU when connected, the nefmoto flasher connects but then cant read the file. VCDS etc connects and allows me to clear faults/log/etc. I have checked all fuses and made sure I am plugging the port in correctly is there any connectors between the OBD port and the ECU that may have possibly come loose that would cause this?

anyone know if I would be able too use one of these too program my ECU?

http://www.xeltek.com/pages.php?pageid=255

Does the ECU just plug directly into this device or do I still need some sort of connector?

I find issues with all audi platform cars after 2002 here in the states, even with my kwp(orig) sometimes.  KWP gets the 1.8t's almost all the time, but sometimes there are cars which i just cannot read or write without boot mode.

cars i saw this on were a 2004 1.8t(bone stock for sure), b6 s4, b7 a4(2.0tfsi)
