Bosch ME7.5.10
Software#: 036997032Q
Software ver: 9731

Hi everyone,

I have upgraded my throttle body to a non-VAG one. Manufacturer, plug and flange is identical to my AUB manifold. Everything is OK in VCDS, except for the adaptation which fails. I have tried swapping the interior of the TB but they aren't interchangable.

The adapation returns an error: 17987 - Throttle Body Controller (J338) - Adaptation Not Started - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded.
If I clear the DTCs, the idle is rough and when going over a certain speed, the car goes into limp mode, and throws a couple of non-plausible signals including the throttle position.
When checking in VCDS the throttle valve angle is the only difference. OEM value 1 is 18% and value 2 is 82%. Replacement value 1 is 18 and value 2 is 76%.

My question is, is it possible to fix this through a map or should I just disable these DTCs and hope that the car will run?

To Attempt adaptations its always better to work with bigger interfaces, like DS150E delph etc.
vcds does the work but this could also be an interface problem as well,
also,
The proccess of adaptation must always meet certain conditions like
Coolant temperature above 80C

these as far as im concearned about these things with my humble experience over 15 years at workshop as an electrician,
technicaly speaking only, i have no experience with programming n stuff

PS: witch throttle body was the replacement? was that VDO too? critical stuff!
