I'm not quite a noob but may as well be with this problem.
I'm trying to get my kkl r232rl cable to work with a Windows XP computer. Windows won't install the driver and I'm getting an windows error code 39 and just displays it in device manager as usb-serial with the warning sign because it's not installed.
I'm trying to use the older driver cdm.2.10
The cable works with windows 7 and windows8 so it's not the cable, been using it for years. Please don't ask why I'm looking it working on the xp, personal preference.

Would appreciate any at all.
Thanks

So it turned out my ft232r PID was 0000 and I had to change it to 6001 using mprog3.5. I'm aware of ftdi bricking devices back in 2014 but mine has be working with the 0000 PID on windows 7 and windows 8 like that for years so I'm assuming it's something to do with the PID of 6001 having to match the old drivers for XP.
Used d2xx driver version cdm2.08.
