i have a 2012 vw gli to tune, but cmd will not read and write med17.5.2 tp20 so i am looking for an older sgo file to downgrade to a file that is unlocked and able to flash by obd the sgo file i have right now is 06J997029D__1509 but i need something unlocked in this part number to roll back with cmd

This is nonsense, you cannot downgrad TP-level with sgo, it´s part from OTP. Open ecu or use other tool.

I was getting mixed answer from everyone and it's the reason I posted, some say yes you can roll back others say you cant.

Some say it´s possible because they read such things somewhere in other board, but never really try. Take some time and backup ecu and try if after Downgrade TP-Level is changed. Some parts from ecu are not in sgo and even in otp and will never change. I have a friend with CMD too and laugh because he still open EDC17 from 2010 and tell me original Kess is shit tool. I think X17 will also not do TP20 obdunlock. They just force solutions for new ecu and dont care about older. Anyway i use ori MPPS for M/EDC17 which is also quick and safe for TP20 obdunlock. Or PCMflash module 65.
