I just did this, I got a MK1 TT with the MM, I used vag comander and tried all thre options for the MM. MM direct pulled the whole thing then tried what Nothery1952  posted and it worked.
does your cluster gets turn off when you pulling epprom via MM direct?

No but it did beep and reset. I used Vag Commader 1.4 and had to run an emulation of windows xp on my windows 10 pc because windows 10 was not laking it.

I have borh XP and windows 7. When I go direct MM the cluster goes beep rhen resets. But the can commander on PC shots down. Samo on XP,same on win7

I used Commander 2.5 and a generic KKL cable on a Windows 10 machine, worked well for me.
