An update for those interested,

The tune is progressing really well. I have it set up for the new MAF housing / intake tract, running ~18 peak psi. Still fine tuning timing and waiting on the zeitronix set-up to dial in fueling. Probably going to keep boost here until later in the summer once the new cat-back is on and all the other parts of the tune are solid.

Engine/trans pull should be starting thursday afternoon - I'm done with finals that morning and don't start work until May 21st. So thats a solid week and half to work on the car! I've got a few buddies who will be helping out here an there.

Torque converter, Engine & Trans mounts, downpipes, and FMIC will all be going in. Along with a new timing belt & related maintenance parts... Downpipes and FMIC are designed but not fabbed yet. Also replacing all "lifetime" fluids with their Mobil1 Synthetic equivalents. It's gonna be a busy (but rewarding) week.

May 23rd Update: Things are moving along well, not as fast as I'd hoped but about as fast as I'd expected... haha. It's starting to look like the FMIC will have to be postponed until later in the summer as funds are starting run a bit low with all the various little things I've found that needed to be replaced while everything is taken apart.

Well one of my k03's is toast so it looks like it's time to go to stage 3 (3- for now).

I've decided to go with GT2560R (GT28R) Turbos. Not an eliminator kit, just the turbos themselves. It's gonna end up being a lot of money and work for minimal gains right now, but thats okay - I like having the room to keep expanding. I'm welding a T25 flange onto the stock exhaust manifolds, and porting them out a little bit for a smooth transition to the turbine inlet. I'll modify my current downpipes to connect to a v-band discharge on the turbos, and put together a cat-back exhaust. It's also time to finish up the FMIC and put together compressor inlets/outlets. Until I can afford a real fueling set-up I'm going to have to run stock injectors with a 5 bar FPR.

Everything's been ordered so I'll be able to get started this weekend.

I'm really looking forward to putting everything together, and especially really getting into tuning for the new setup! I should have my zeitronix set-up by the time I'm finished with everything else so I'll be able to properly tune the fueling.

Yeah barely. As long as you weld the T25 flange in at the right angle (requiring custom compressor inlets/outlets), but that's a huge pita due to the cast double-wall design of the stock manifolds... Which is why I've decided to ditch the stock manifolds and put together some new ones, likely still log-style for simplicity and cost. Especially considering I won't be trying to squeeze every last bit of hp out of the car on the stock block and tip trans.

After being fairly unhappy with my cars performance over the last year, I recently found three cylinders with bad compression (55, 90, & 120 psi on cylinders 1, 4, & 5 respectively) and a crack on one of my turbo's compressor housing backing/sealing plate. While I'm sure that contributed a great deal to my lack of performance I'm changing directions with turbos while I have my motor out to refresh it. Definitely looking forward to having a more responsive set-up here in the near future.

Already have everything torn down, just waiting on the last couple boxes of parts to arrive. I plan to have the car back together by mid-August with:

SRM RS6/K24 hybrid turbos
SRM inlets (May fab some 2.25" inlets to use instead, not sure yet)

Ported and ceramic coated stock exhaust manifolds

Refreshed block
- Honed Cylinders
- Decked all mating surfaces
- All new seals & gaskets
- P:B5 H-beam rods
- Stock pistons with new rings
- New timing belt
- Compression dropping headgaskets (034)
- ARP main studs
- 034 coated main bearings
- 034 coated rod bearings
- ARP Head studs

2.8l heads
- Lightly hand ported
- Supertech stainless steel exhaust valves
- All new seals & gaskets

034 5mm phenolic intake spacers
Ported stock intake manifold

JHM solid shifter parts

and hopefully I'll have the time in the near future to finally finish up my FMIC thats been a WIP for several months now...
