Hey guys,

I got myself an ECU from the junk yard for testing purposes.
It's coming out of a Golf 4, I pulled it out my own. Engine was already missing, but very likely it was a 1.4 16V.

Now I am confused by the information I found on the internet.
Every page I found says that 036 906 032 D should be ME7.5.

But the plug is definitely M3.8.x/M5.9.x...

Looking up the part no. at the "reseller" page of EVC, it finds results not only for 1.4 16V (ME7.5) but also 1.6 16V (ME7.1).

I only have a bench harness for ME7.1/7.5. So I can't read it with MPPS.
Is anybody able to identify the ECU model by the chips on the board?
Memory is AM29F400BB, eeprom is a 95040.

thanks!

unfortunately no link or attachment in your post.

Anyway my noob questions continue  Grin

-it is the fourth ECU I opened (2x M3.8.2 and 1x ME7.1) and I noticed that the PCB is shorter -> is it shorter on all ME7.5?

-or is this maybe a "reduced" ME7.5 with less functions/outputs? Because the plugs obviously have less pins than on what I know as common ME7.x plugs

nobody able to answer the questions above?  Smiley

I was on the junkyard and verfied it was a 1,4 16V, the one with engine code AXP (there are 4 different engine codes on the 1.4s in Mk4)

I guess I need to get the harness plan, so I can check if this ECU has different in/outs than a M3.8.x (I will compare to the M3.8.2 of my '97 A4 1,8T)

so just FYI:

I compared pin outs of 8D0 907 557 T (M3.8.2 from Audi A4 engine code AEB) to 036 906 032 D (ME7.5 from Golf Mk4 engine code AXP) which obviously share the same plug.

Result: they couldn't be more different. Only ground, injector#4 and TPS#2 are on the identical pins. The rest (even power supply) is different.

Yes - I was hoping for the 'holy grail' of M3.8.x to ME7.5 conversion. No luck today.  Grin
