Hello,
I have 2016 VW GTI 2,0TFSI and installed turbo and other bits from 2016 VW Golf R 2,0TFSI. Both ECUs have same HW ID 06K 907 425 B which is SIMOS 18.1 but different SW. Can I flash GTI ECU with Golf R SW if I change powerclass to match cluster? Or will immo still block engine and brick ECU?
Thanks much.

And? If you can get the ECU working then the least of your problems will be getting the ecu mapped to run!

Yes you will need to change the powerclass, but the main problem will be the Immo. unless you overcome this the car wont start.

Thank you, why immo would be main problem? I haven’t touched immo. I use my orig ECU.

Sorry I thought you wanted to use the GOlf r ecu on your car! Just stick with the original SW and tune the car accordingly, by far the easiest way to do things and you can get the car running nearly the same if you take the time. To cross flash the ecu is more involved than just flashing the ecu with another SW version, trust me! Whilst there are differences in the engines they aren't or shouldn't hold you back too much

I was notified from tuner that we must use Golf R SW version because of variable cam phase control. No way to control with 1.8 SW.
What involvement to cross flash ECU? Both have identical HW ID numbers. Can it be flashed with R software if powerclass is changed to match powerclass in cluster?

In first post you have a 2.0 engine, now you have a 1.8 engine suddenly.
Which one is it then?

No you cannot, a Polo GTI is not an MQB car, it's a PQ and I doubt the rest of the car will talk to the ECU after you do so. So no, I would advise you against it, and take this from someone who has probably the most experience in crossflashing non ME7 VAG stuff on this forum (ahem, I know I'm modest).

Thank you I know we’re in for tall project. If powerclass is changed in 2,0 R SW to match PC in cluster will engine run or brick ECU like in above link ?
