I've recently sold my mk5 gti that i tuned myself via mpps and winols, i've now got a family wagon 2007 320d with the m47 engine and would like to tune it, with a mate with the same car and engine already having a stage 1 tune on his, would it be possible to read his file and then flash to mine?? Or is this a very bad idea?

The smart thing would be to read the file and line it up with yours and port all the stage 1 changes over. Cross flashing is never really a good idea. Worse case could brick the ecu, small variants between sub models (auto / manual 5p£ed 6 speed etc) just going to add that if you actually tuned a mk5 you should have the ability make your own file and not be lazy and rip someone elses work...

If you are in the market for a tune and would like the ease of downloading and flashing a dyno tested tune for a fair price check out https://instatune.sellfy.store/

I know I should make the file myself but with a newborn and a demanding job time is very limited hence the stupid idea to steal his generic stage 1 map
