Its an ST10 right? If so read on. I just use the attached modded ME7eeprom. Read the bat file for info, then run the bat file to and see how she goes. Its never not worked. Try ST10Ripper, for copying the eeprom while in normal mode (not in boot mode)

I had no problem with ST10. Which Cable are you using? The error message wrong echo length points to a baudrate or cable problem. Can you please try to connect to ecu with vcds lite with this cable to verify its working?

It was indeed the cable ... Thank you guys, both tools read it. Got two different readouts/sizes, guess the big one is the right one ? Any of you can do correct immo off ? :-)

the big one looks good, the small one is read with the wrong chip type ( i guess type 1 as from your last pic) and too less size, try this one:
Me7BootTool 28800 -readeeprom -ssc 0 port6 pin3 0x400 file.bin

try bootTool:
Me7BootTool 28800 -writeeeprom -ssc 0 port6 pin3 off.mod then read back: Me7BootTool 28800 -readeeprom -ssc 0 port6 pin3 0x400 readback.bin and post off.mod and readback.bin
