I was pondering this the other day, and was wondering if any one knows which bits are the defaults for the TC?

Also is this is simple as switching a flag thus allowing the dash switch to turn on TC ?

Thoughts, Comments, Suggestions, etc?

I once read somewhere that you can change the hardwiring to make it default. Easier than doing it in the ecu.

Why would you want to turn it off anyway?

Its an interference and I often forget to turn it off, I really don't even like it in the winter.

I dont need a computer to tell me my wheels are slipping.

You can turn it off permanently w/ ECU coding...if its FWD, code it to ABS w/ no ASR. You can also turn it off w/ coding in the ABS controller. This can be done w/ VAG-COM/VCDS

can you do this to a AWD car?

Did you do it just to ECU or also try the ABS module itself?

As far as i know, this isn't possible with ME7.1 (b5s4)... Is it?

Not sure about s4's...I've done it on B5 A4's w/ 1.8t and GTI/Jetta w/ FWD.

What I found interesting was that on the A3 (Aum) ecu , the "info" bubble did not appear when I hovered the mouse to the left of the coding input however it popped up on the BAM ecu . The BAM showed coding for awd , data buss comm's and emmisions (Euro 3 IIRC) . So , It got me thinking - could we not turn off the emmisions here ??
