Hi,

In following text "ECU#1" is the old damaged ECU. "ECU#2" is the used ECU which i have bought to replace the ECU#1.

My plan was to clone the content from one ECU#1 to ECU#2. ECU#1 and ECU#2 has same HW NR: 8T1 907 560. ECU#1 was readable in boot mode with Ktag, ECU#2 can't be red at all. I've tried it with Autotuner also, but no chance... Ktag says "removal of microprotection failed", Autotuner says "bsl could not unlock flash, password is not known, can't be read".

After this i checked software versions of both ECU's with diag tool

ECU#1 has software version 8T1 907 560 0005 , same as on ecu label
ECU#2 has software version 8T1 907 560 0007 , that means, this ecu was updated by dealer, because on label it's 0003 sw version.

Does anyone from y'all know, if the software update from sw version 0005 to 0007 caused a renewel of protection password? If yes, maybe a downgrade from 0007 to 0005 help to make it readable again?

Would be happy, if anyone can help me out.

Thanks in advance

BR

How are you going to "downgrade" anything without immo being authenticated.
That's right, you don't.

If ECU2 is your spare then you're stuck and won't be able to get into it. Also, cloning on MED17 VAG, I somehow doubt you know how to.

It´s strange that a TP7 ecu cannot be read. Anyway maybe you can downgrade (or flash stock software) ecu after making "immo off" in eeprom. Not sure if this will work, but it´s worth a try. Tricore "eeprom" should be not protected for read/write. Get MPPS and try.

Why you doubt? I know it's not a simple "copy paste job", cause of OTP area  Grin

EEPROM immo off might be your only way out here, as it'll allow you to flash OBD on the bench without immo.
