Hi,

I'm new to NEFMOTO. Downloaded the software and the D2XX driver. I bought this KKL cable:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/403378429798?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5deb3a5f66:g:DH8AAOSwo25hyY9y&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACoPYe5NmHp%252B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsS%252BMKizvpuEDUfX4dvRWfUzUzpJh5cf3QUCFiStxCDaQq%252BRBsnhjg4%252F0gvpGEHqosbY2v%252BG6g7L4l5wL3dxp8KblbW7DXK2L0UPJz%252BFRzJ9P4hdZYhFQ2zbZI4RlBvE6BmykeRHfbijI4zeXjK7UYPNwkuAK06n47uFH2AipgR6ShFTLwZaZQTgMRmYRFQLvAeUYQBF2p%252BLlCyt60SnJxxUU1%252F%252FwWbygyrdrHn7sTmsDeSIPdR%252FwssQpqfJtJFmVx6fqUoALE6hLkrK3FAVivBGu0KApEOJNb6C3osvdiqwM5aKDE%252BG5zeLQoy0n%252BsuKjA7aznL4Y%252BUI06CSpopKWuPkMixlv6kYXuYpdoGxPz7CDvZujdoKXAua2ODpAGvEPj5dRtjW1NlqCsVcYkarUkCjsrzVh4eBCIYS5Kwx2wGYw9JoSEFCDPNq11i8XahOIlZWaISva1l0ocNRPLToMZhDxOKAY2I6hwsQVo8OQRx01QKp7XvBcdMBTfB4H4v7wh0kOIRHLOFYdOT%252FSseR51YfOeRrKx1rpFljcCket83YHvIWetVDlVEXMTPlRgI6aR%252F3kFOse%252FdFyZW82OHc6zj7Z1e4fsdAQoFYPN%252FEadnnvU2ngXNoYo%252FJAgaQzLieEF9nRAEhAPa6qR0WMDUhcGmuClU0AGpbo9uOELyNX5xuK%252Fp1w19%252B3NH9CjaqL8MLq2Lpj4oHDn2pr35Et8zSwzgBb5uJa47Qo93wlupZi2eBROmQ5MX1EW%252Fw%252BGO2uWG7mDvvuzarAXkEAStJIhLX38ljLQhp3sEhs5jI9BXBSa7dcUkyPO1qaHZCn4aYxm%252FC1JzSSdsCAgoFk7HD8eYXKVjQ%253D%253D%7Cclp%3A2334524%7Ctkp%3ABFBM8tKHrcdf

So I'm having trouble with the drivers. When I go to device manager -> update driver and choose either the D2XX ones that I downloaded or the ones on the CD that came with the KKL cable it tells me that the best driver for my device is already installed. That driver is the CH340.

Using that driver I can use Rosstech VCDS 409.1 in dumb KKL mode and it connects and works but I can't get NEFMOTO to detect the device. It must be a driver issue. I cannot manage to get to the point where under device manager I see "USB serial converter" like I read in the instructions. Any suggestions/know what I'm doing wrong?

TL;DR I have my KKL cable setup with the CH340 driver but cannot get it to switch to the D2XX. Windows 10 tells me my driver is up to date and the CH340 driver is best. NEFMOTO software won't detect my cable though VCDS 409.1 will. Help please

Yes, get a FTDI based cable, or contribute to the nef flasher such that it supports the CH

Can you link me to an FTDI cable you know works?

Or explain what you mean by contribute to the NEFMOTO flasher... not sure how to do that

Thanks for the reply

Maybe you'd like him to give you a blowjob too?

Get a FTDI chipset based cable, not CH340 chipset based.
Or rewrite the flasher to use a COM port instead of D2XX (but hey, if you don't know what the word contribute means, you are not going to do that).

The category that you should start with in this forum is named poorly and new users might think its the FU section... however "Noob Guides and FAQs" is where you will want to start. Specifically the thread that states "Please Read Before Posting Any Tuning Questions". One day they might rename the section to New User Guides and FAQ's so that people actually read it first... but from the responses you got they tend to like to be harsh in this group. if you cant take it you should go to another forum because this was them playing nice lol.

Go read, it tells you exactly what you buy and all your follow up questions initially will be answered there.

Thank you. I see right there it says "CH340 based cables will not work." And unfortunately my HEX-V2 won't support dumb mode. I'll buy another cable on eBay that specifically states FTDI. Thanks again for the help and the link

I got everything working with the new cable! So I got all the way through the ME7CHECK part and all is fine. So I have this .bin file that is a read of my ECU... how do I actually read/interpret this? I want to see if my car already has a tune

Okay I can do that. And what software/application do you use to read a .bin file?

I'm learning. I learned that I can get rid of that CEL with a simple change to the .bin file of a string from 2D to 0D. But I also learned that in order to do so I need the appropriate XDF file so Tunerpro can interpret the .bin

I also need that XDF to read & understand my .bin so I can see if my car has a tune. I've searched through this forum and can't find the XDF. ('04 TT 225hp Quattro BEA 8N0906018CJ engine). I put a request in the appropriate spot on the forum:

Any ideas or help? Would seem I'm stuck unless someone has that XDF

So on this thread http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=821.0title=

A guy has the same engine and says he got a similar but not equal damos (same as XDF?) from another guy named TTQS. Did some searching and think I found it here http://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php/topic,62.msg3330.html#msg3330

But it's a OLS file

Can someone explain OLS to me? I can't use it in tunerpro. Googling is making me think it's like an encrypted bin file so not what I need? I also see it's a BAM and not BEA engine
