So.... I have a 2003 Beetle 1.8t AWW motor.  Heard I could flash it with the bin from an AWP.... Got one, and flashed it, and everything was awesome.  But, like a dumbass, I just couldn't  leave it alone.  I was having issues getting the vin to reset. Figured it might be because the file said it was from a 2002, maybe there was an immobilizer difference or something..

So I flashed it back to my original bin (damn glad I made a copy...)  Drove it for a day, and found 2 different 2003 files... Today I went to try one of the new ones.... Forgot that I had been screwing around, and had been looking at the "Group project" 1.8t Audi bin... Just using it to play with different programs.   So, a little too much beer, and a lot too much weed later, and I accidentally flashed that into my car...

Now it won't start.....  When I try to connect to the ecu, I get no joy... Tries, but can't  connect.....  Did I just totally screw myself?  I am hoping there is some.."All you need to do is..." solution.

Other thing you can try is wire it up on Bench kline, 12v and ground to your Cabel and try again othervise bootmode

1. Nefmoto does not do boot mode. You need different software (possibly hardware).
2. Bootmode is done on the bench, not in the car.

Yust discconect battery for 20 min
Connect batery, turn on ignition, flash working file with nefomoto

If that doesn't work, than boot mode

I am trying the "turn it off, and turn it back on method now... Then I might move to the "Induce a harmonic" method.  No software, but there is hardware involved.... hammer......

Top tip: don't flash random files.  Make your own using your ORI as the base.

Its bricked. You flashed a file with a different boot rom. Also you're lucky awp files actually work because awv is immo 2 and awp is immo3 and normally results in a start and shut down from immo.

Not AWV.... Mine is a 2003 AWW ...Immo3    That's what got me on this road... Trying to get my Immo3 pin...   The files I have been using are stock ori files from Chiptuning.pw...  Flashing the group project was a alcohol and drug related mistake...  I would love to make my own... I have been a "Tuner" now for 5 whole days...  Today, I get to learn how to recover a bricked ecu...  I am learning like a boss... Smiley

You want to know how to take a 351w block, offset ground 400m crank, Dodge 318 rods, and Chevy flat top pistons, and make them all into a 427 small block? I got you... Thermoquad? Bring it on... AWD  1st gen civic... Let's roll....  Charts and graphs full of unintelligible squiggle.... Give me a sec.... Smiley

Aww is also immo 2 so your engine was swapped or the head was swapped from broken timing belt as that should be a awp engine code and thats immo3.

If you have the blue cable download galletto and patch the serial with mprog Sould be a sticky on one of the forum topics. Then you can boot mode flash it. The sequence for grounding the boot pin os important. You can use your car as a boot bench but may require a friends help doing so.

Only beetle to come with an AWP was the Turbo S.. The rest were 150hp... So, wrong there... But right about it not being aww.. I saw it on the ross tech scans, and didn't even think about the fact it was just getting this from the swapped ecu... Smiley
